In what may be a first for the online poker market, CoinPoker has introduced a new tool that lets players wager on the results of live, high-stakes poker games. Known for its cryptocurrency-based platform, the operator is giving people a new way to interact with the game and its best players by fusing the speculative excitement of prediction markets with the accuracy of poker strategy.
All bets are made using Tether (USDT), a stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar, using CoinPoker’s downloadable sportsbook client, where the prediction markets are hosted. The markets are, however, currently in the initial stages, which is great to know for cautious players. Still, for hassle-free betting, users may convert their Euro or British Pound deposits to USDT. This works with a variety of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Binance Coin, POL, or USD Coin.
There are many similarities between this functionality and Polymarket, a decentralized prediction exchange that has processed over $10 billion in trade volume since its introduction. But Polymarket is still missing from the poker landscape, and CoinPoker is making a strong case for itself by focusing on a niche group of poker enthusiasts who also happen to keep up with the industry’s brightest thinkers.
Rewards for the Target Market
The inaugural betting markets revolve around heads-up No Limit Texas Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha contests—formats that demand technical precision and psychological acuity. CoinPoker has curated matchups featuring names familiar to any serious player. These matches routinely spark discussion across CoinPoker’s Discord channels, X feeds, and community forums, where strategy debates and player performance are analyzed in detail.
The prediction markets follow a defined weekly schedule. From Saturday morning until Monday at 8:00 a.m. (UK-time), users can access early betting lines. Match play officially begins at 9:00 a.m. each Monday, concluding with the final hands by Friday at midnight.
All outcomes are settled using profit and loss measured through Expected Value—a statistical metric that accounts for variance and accurately reflects longterm performance. Once the betting window closes, CoinPoker publishes the final results publicly on its website. Draws are excluded from consideration, given their statistical insignificance in EV-based head-to-head play.
Banking on Community
To ensure fair competition and maximize viewer interest, CoinPoker has waived rake fees at select high-stakes tables. The platform also facilitates “show tables,” revealing players’ hole cards during showdown. That is a wonderful of delivering full transparency when tracking results or refining future betting strategies. Moreover, the platform is encouraging community members to submit suggestions for future market types and matchup formats as it continues to improve the product.
